University of North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball Museum
If you’re a college basketball fan, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball Museum is definitely worth a stop when you’re in Chapel Hill. Located at the Dean E. Smith Center, the museum does a great job of showcasing the history of one of college basketball’s most successful programs. From championship memories to legendary players and coaches, there’s plenty here to remind you just how much history is connected to Carolina basketball.
What we enjoyed most was seeing the collection of memorabilia and learning more about the players and teams that helped make the Tar Heels what they are today. You’ll find plenty of familiar names and moments, but even if you aren’t a die-hard UNC fan, the history is interesting and easy to take in. Of course, if you grew up watching Carolina basketball, you’ll probably spend a little more time looking at everything.
The museum isn’t something that will take up your entire day, and honestly, that’s part of what makes it a nice stop. It’s an easy addition to a Chapel Hill visit, especially if you’re already at the Smith Center or exploring the UNC campus. Real. Simple. Honest. — If you’re a college basketball fan or just appreciate sports history, we think the Tar Heels Basketball Museum is worth checking out.
