🏨 HOTEL TIPS:

  • Read recent hotel reviews—not just the overall rating.
  • Pay attention to what guests consistently complain about.
  • Look at the hotel’s actual location on a map.
  • “Near downtown” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s convenient.
  • Check whether parking costs extra.
  • Check whether resort fees apply.
  • Check whether breakfast is actually included.
  • Check the hotel’s cancellation policy before booking.
  • Check the check-in and checkout times.
  • If arriving late, notify the hotel when appropriate.
  • Ask about early check-in, but don’t assume it will be available.
  • Ask about late checkout if you need it.
  • Don’t automatically accept the first room you’re given if there is a legitimate problem.
  • Check the room before unpacking.
  • Make sure the air conditioning or heating works.
  • Check that the bathroom has everything you need.
  • Know where the emergency exits are.
  • Don’t leave valuables sitting in plain sight.
  • Take a photo of your room number if you’re likely to forget it.
  • Keep your room key separate from anything identifying your hotel room.
  • If the hotel doesn’t meet expectations, talk to management before writing the review.
  • Remember that a three-star hotel isn’t necessarily a bad hotel—it may simply offer fewer amenities.
  • Judge a hotel based on what you paid for it, not what you wish you had paid for.
